87 riders (45 seniors, 5 Juniors and 37 Youths) for this years Championship at
Welwyn were blessed with a warm sunny day to enjoy an excellent and competitive
afternoons racing in the various categories from Senior down to Under 8’s

Another victory for McClelland
7th September 2007: The final meeting of the 2008 Welwyn Track
League sponsored by Plowman Craven ended with a flourish as the large entry who
turned out for the prize distribution put on a fine show in front of a good
sized crowd. The Senior A/B Handicap for Even numbered riders
saw the B group work well together and looked likely to hold off the chasing A
riders with two lap to go however an easing of the pace allowed the A group to
reel them in at the bell and Trevor Burke won the final dash for the line from
John McClelland in the fastest 10 lap race of the season

Birkmyre wins Women's Omnium
25th May 2007: Despite the unseasonal
weather 73 riders enjoyed a good days racing with the Women’s Omnium result
keenly contested in all 5 disciplines. Janet Birkmyre won the opening 500m Time
trial from Laura Trott and Helen Scott. She also won the 16 lap scratch but was
third in the 4 lap Pursuit won by Corrine Hall but clinched the overall result
with a win in the Sprint from Laura Trott and nailing third place in the 16 lap
Points behind Laura Trott and Helen Scott. Laura’s win in the Points race gave her second
on tie break from Helen Scott. The 10 mile part of the National Endurance
League came down to a massive sprint after 35 laps with James Taylor taking the
honours from comeback man Richard Prince and David Sinclair. The strong

Birkmyre and McClelland on Top
21st July 2007 - Women's Omnium/Dernyfest: The
third round of the 2007 National Women’s Omnium Series was held at Welwyn on a
typically overcast day, with the occasional shower causing short delays. But
with superb efficiency, the team at Welwyn’s GoslingSportsPark got the event
underway on time and starting with the 500m
TT an event which is always a good indicator of who is going well on the
day. A blistering time of 38.50 secs in
blustery conditions from current national omnium champ, Janet Birkmyre (Planet
X-SheCycles.com) proved the quickest by over a second from a tightly packed
group of three riders, who were separated by only 0.06 of a second; Siobhan
Mullen (Team Chance) was 2nd with 39.60, Laura Trott (VCL) 3rd
with 39.65 and Helen Scott (Halesowen) fourth with 39.66
